Introducing Jiaozi Snow Mountain
About 150 Km away from Kunming, Jiaozi Snow Mountain at 4233 meters is the highest mountain in Central Yunnan. Jiaozi Snow Mountain resembles a traditional Chinese Sedan, Jiao Zi in shape, hence its name. 1200 years ago, the Nanzhou King Geluofeng bestowed on the Jiaozi Mountain the title of “the top of the most famous mountains” and since 1989 the area has been listed as a natural reserve.

What to expect at Jiaozi Snow Mountain
Located in the Jiaozi Snow Mountain Scenic Area which includes Qiwang Mountain, Dongying Mountain, Guanyin Mountain within an area of 250 sq km which includes forests, glaciers and glacial lakes and alpine meadows in which rhododendrons and azaleas abound.
Due to Jiaozi Snow Mountain’s location and changeable climate visitors can experience its so-called Five Wonders: clouds, halo, sunrise, ice, snow and azaleas. In spring and summer, azaleas are dancing in the light breeze within your eyesight. The colorful flowers are in full blossoms in the stream which forms a beautiful view. In winter, the snow covers the Jiaozi Mountain and makes it like a silver belt and fairy tale kingdom. The waterfalls in Jiaozi Snow Mountain is frozen in cold temperature, which is like an ice waterfall. Jiaozi Snow Mountain is a suitable place to do snow and ice sports.
How to get to Jiaozi Snow Mountain
• By Bus: take a direct bus from the Railway Museum nearby the Kunming Railway Station to the scenic area (4 hours).
• Rent a car/bus from GGC to enjoy a hassle free private transfer from hotels in Kunming to Jiaozi Snow Mountain.
Additional travel advice on Jiaozi Snow Mountain
• Please wear comfortable hiking shoes with a good grip.
• The plank road will be slippery when the mountain is covered with snow in winter. Please watch out your steps.
• Visitors may get altitude sickness at the top of the mountain. Children, seniors and people with poor healthy conditions are not recommended to make the hike.
• Please prepare enough warm clothes as the temperature on the mountain is lower than that at the foot of the mountain.
