Introducing Xiamen University (from Xiamen Municipal Commission of Tourism)
While many Chinese universities aren’t particularly attractive, Xiamen University, founded in 1921 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Tan Kah Kee, stands out. Xiamen University was handed over to the government in 1937 and temporarily relocated to western Fujian a year later during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Today, Xiamen University is both an academic and research university with relationships to several universities around the world.

What to expect at Xiamen University
The large, manicured green campus has a small lake and several ponds and is backed by rolling hills looking out to sea. Xiamen University is also worth checking out on a visit to the campus, more than 2,000 million of students’ artwork are displayed at the Furong Tunnel. Having made his fortune in a number of industries in Singapore, Fujian-born Tan Kah Kee, who also founded the Overseas Chinese Museum, financed schools in both his homeland and his adopted home.

• Take bus 2, 20, 22, 29, 47, 48, 86, 87, 92, 96, 310, 659, 751, or B3 to Xiada Baicheng Station.
• Rent a car/bus from GGC to enjoy a hassle free private transfer from hotels in Xiamen to Xiamen University.
