Begin your morning at the Gansu Provincial Museum, the province’s largest and most comprehensive museum. Marvel at its crowning jewel, the Flying Horse of Gansu, a renowned bronze sculpture from the Eastern Han dynasty. Next, ascend the iconic White Pagoda Mountain for panoramic views of Lanzhou. After a leisurely lunch and prayers at Xiguan Mosque, the city’s largest mosque, stroll along the riverside path of the Waterwheel Garden. For a unique experience, brave a traditional sheepskin raft crossing of the Yellow River (at your own expense), a time-honored method of transportation in the region. Conclude your day with a visit to the Iron Bridge of the Yellow River, the first iron bridge built over the river’s upper reaches in 1907 using German technology and materials.

Day 3 Yellow River Stone Forest

The Yellow River Stone Forest is a breathtaking natural wonder, featuring towering sand stalagmites and stone pillars in a variety of shapes and sizes. This unique landscape was sculpted over millions of years by the Earth’s tectonic movements and the relentless erosion of wind and water. Depart from Lanzhou for a scenic drive (approximately 135 kilometers, about 2 hours) to the Yellow River Stone Forest park. Upon arrival, embark on a thrilling shuttle bus journey along a winding mountain road with over 20 curves. Experience a truly authentic local adventure by floating down the Yellow River on traditional sheepskin rafts. As you navigate the river, admire the stunning scenery on both banks. Afterward, return to your hotel in Lanzhou.
